Loughcrew cemetery, Cairn D. This, the largest of the cairns in the cemetery, some 55m in diam., is bounded by a kerb. Though partly excavated in 1865 and in 1868, in the area of the supposed entrance at the incurve of the kerb on SE, no structure was found. Listed as passage-tomb. (Herity 1974, 234). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987).
