Located just W of the graveyard at the site of the Hospital of St. John (ME017-044026-). Archaeological testing (01E0819) in the rear garden of one plot identified a natural spring at one point with medieval pottery in a small deposit (dims 1.1m x 0.5m; D 0.1m) nearby (Meenan 2001, 2003). The spring (diam. 1.2m; D 0.75m) underlay a deposit of masonry rubble with brick and was excavated (03E1899) by Duffy (2006) who interpreted it as a well which had medieval pottery in its fill.
