Situated on a gentle E-facing slope. Topsoil stripping (02E0194) in advance of a gas pipeline identified as a spread of charcoal and oxidised clay (BGE: 1A/18/1) which was completely excavated under the same licence. It resolved into an oval area (dims 2.4m N-S; 0.52m E-W) consisting of two oval pits with charcoal-rich fills surrounded by a halo of oxidised clay. There was no evidence of a connecting flue at this severely truncated monument. (Tobin 2002, 2004)
